Launch of Ekangala Thusong Service Centre

On the 29th February 2008, the Gauteng Provincial Government launched the Ekangala Thusong Service Centre. The launch was attended by the Executive Mayor of Kungwini, Clr. Obed Maila, members of the Mayoral Executive Committee, Councillors, Senior Government Officials, Community Development Workers, Ward Committee members and Community of Greater Ekangala and the farming area.

The activities of the day included a mini Imbizo, a formal programme with cultural events in the marquee, an exhibition, cutting of the ribbon, executive members' official site visit, staged performances by local artists, and cultural events.

Different department operating at the Centre made presentations about the kind of service they provide to the communities. These departments consist of:

  • Department of Home Affairs
  • Department of Labour
  • South African Social Security Agency
  • Community Development Workers
  • Government Communication and Information System, and
  • Gauteng Online.

The Executive Mayor graced the event by delivery the Keynote address, and Clr. HM Sekwati did the vote of thanks. Catering was provided by the office of the Premier to the VIP’s, disabled, youth and the community in general.
