On the 16th September 2011, the community of Kagiso were invited to be part of the Kagiso Thusong Promotion. The objective of the event was to create awareness to community about services that are rendered in the centre.

The main focus of the promotion was to highlight the role of a Thusong to communities.
“The establishment of Thusongs in the country is to bring services of government closer to communities and stop people travelling long distances to access these services,” said Selaelo Mabusela, an official from the Gauteng Premiers Offices. Community members were reminded that the centre was opened to make it easier for people to access services such as SASSA, Home Affairs, SAPS, Library and other services that are provided by NGOs.

An exhibition was held where service providers were encouraged to bring information booklets and brochures to distribute to the community. NGOs situated in the centre were also encouraged to display their wares and sell them to the community. In highlighting September as Heritage month, community members were fed traditional food (pap and tripe) prepared by Kagiso Tourism Association, a service provider also based in the centre.
