Limpopo Provincial Inter-Sectoral Steering Committee (PISSC) continue to empower and strengthen Thusong Service Centres in the province. On October 26 and 27, the team comprise of all Limpopo District centre managers, GCIS, Office of the Premier, Capricorn District, Blouberg Municipality, Sekhukhune, Vhembe, Mopani and Waterberg embarked on a two day Thusong marketing initiative at Eldorado Thusong Service Centre in Blouberg Local Municipality.
Departments offering services at the centre are; SAPS, Health, Social Development, SASSA, Education, Labour, Blouberg Municipality, EMS, Rachaachaa Health Centre and Parliamentary Office. The Parliamentary office is Minister of Roads and Transport Joe Maswanganyi ’s constituency office.
The event started with a door to door campaign at a taxi rank and proceeded to Rachaachaa Health Centre where they interacted with community members.
They distributed government publications and interviewed them to find out what they think, know and what their suggestions were about services they get from Eldorado Thusong Service Centre. One of the residents Betty Morudu expressed her unhappiness about the dusty 20km stretch from the main road to the village. She said during raining season their village is inaccessible. “All in all, we are happy with services we get from Eldorado Thusong and we appreciate the attention we are getting from PISSC”. The door to door event was an agenda setting for the next day’s meeting which among other things issues raised by community members will be discussed.
Eric Mabaso Deputy Director from Office the Premier in Limpopo said that each month they visit a Thusong Service Centre in the province to ascertain what their challenges are and where they cannot help, they refer the issue to higher structures for intervention. His sentiments was shared by Gelocia Mamabolo from Capricorn District Municipality and Vinolia Makhura who said they highly value services offered in Thusong Service centres.
Eldorado Thusong Service Centre manager Francinah Phalafala, said the event was worthwhile. “The only challenge we have in this area is lack of Post Office services and the poor road condition to the centre. I would like to thank my colleagues from other Thusong Service Centres in the province for embarking in this invaluable participation. We indeed take services closer to the people”, she concluded.
Eric Mabaso Deputy Director from Office the Premier in Limpopo said they will continue supporting Thusong Service Centres in the province.
