Service delivery in action: Munsieville Thusong Service Centre

The Munsieville Thusong Service Centre was launched on 28 November 2008. About 1 000 community members of Munsieville and surrounding areas were present. Mr Dennis Thupane officially opened the proceedings of the day. Councillor Moekitsi gave a welcoming address.

The day comprised activities, which included site visits, exhibitions, stage performances and cultural artistry. Senior officials presented the Piority Township Poverty Programme with pertinence to the Department of Housing’s programme for Gauteng, the South African Social Security Agency’s expanding services, the Gauteng Online’s information and communications technology programme and the Department of Labour’s work-seeker registration initiative.

Speaker Noluthando Mangole gave the keynote address, in which she highlighted the importance of Thusong Service Centres. The proceedings were concluded by Councillor Moeketsi, who delivered the vote of thanks, after which the ribbon-cutting observance followed.

All who attended were treated to delicious cuisine, complements of the Office of the Premier of Gauteng. I guess Gauteng is living up to its proverbial mantra, ”It all begins here” and hopefully all provinces will follow suit in changing the lives of all South Africans for the better.
