The marketing event was held on 17 April 2018 at the roadside of R33 outside Tugela Ferry Thusong Centre. The Government Communication Information System (GCIS), Tugela Ferry Thusong Centre Manager Ms Dudu Molefe and Department of Economics Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Consumer Protection unit Mr Sphiwe Zwane embarked on the Thusong Marketing event.
The aim of the event was to raise awareness on services rendered at the Centre and further engage with community members about Consumer issues. Community members, commuters, scholars took their time to visit the stall to receive first-hand information about Thusong service centre.
It was exciting to see new faces who never used the centre before engaging with various questions about the Thusong centre programme. Addressing the questions Mr Thandinkosi Zulu from GCIS, encouraged young people to visit the centre more often to check for job advertisement that are printed on notice boards including the internship programmes.
Mr Sphiwe Zwane from Consumer Protection provided advice to community members whose interest was on how they can be assisted on various issues of expired food staff, furniture with no guarantee from foreign National shops. Mr Msinga was able to register more than 20 complain which include toxic food which are consumed every day by community members.
